La SOS Band è un ensemble musicale americana , fondata ad Atlanta (Georgia) nel 1977. Originariamente conosciuta come Santa Monica, la sigla ‘SOS’ nel nome della band è l’acronimo di Sounds of Success.
La band, capeggiata da Mary Davis, è stata inizialmente famosa per la hit “ Take Your Time (Do It Right) ” del 1980. Nel 1983 hanno unirono le loro forze con l’allora nuova produzione del team di Jimmy Jam e Terry Lewis , che ha continuato a realizzare una serie di R & B risultati per il gruppo, tra cui ” Just Be Good To Me “,” Tell Me If You Still Care “, “L’amore in prestito”, “No One Gonna Love You”, “Just The Way You Like It” e “The Finest”.
I successi prodotti da Jam-Lewis unito alla SOS Band si distinguono per l’utilizzazione del Roland TR-808 drum machine (e il suo caratteristico suono a campanaccio) tipico nella musica popolare .
Il gruppo continua tuttora ad effettuare tour e ad esibirsi in pubblico. ( 1apr16 )
